Winemaker Tasting with Alexander Zahel from Weingut Zahel in Vienna, Austria

Weingut Zahel is a family-run winery in Vienna, with all its vineyards within the capital city. Alexander Zahel will be pouring two of his family’s wines, an Orangetraube (a unique white grape varietal whose skin turns slightly orange when ripe) and a Gemischter Satz (a “mixed set” or field blend that pertains specifically to Vienna vineyards where different grape varietals are planted side-by-side) of Gruner Veltliner, Chardonnay, and Riesling.

We’ll be featuring three additional Austrian wines from the esteemed importer Winemonger - a Zweigelt and a St. Laurent from the biodynamic producer Umathum, and an organically farmed Blaufränkisch from the family-run Schuster estate. Fun fact: Zweigelt is the grape-child of Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent!
